Cricket for Girls is delighted to announce a new cricket program for schools – Rounders to Cricket. In recent times we have seen a huge shift in the number of schools turning to cricket rather than the more traditional rounder’s lesson. We realise for many teachers, cricket is a completely new sport and it can often be perceived to be a complicated sport!
With this in mind, Cricket for Girls is offering a number of programs to help schools make the transition from rounder’s to cricket a much smoother one.
CPD Days to learn to teach cricket
Firstly, we can offer CPD days for teachers looking to upskill and develop their knowledge and ability to teach cricket. As well as the basic rules, we will provide teachers with a comprehensive range of games, drills, and skills to take away and deliver in PE lessons. On top of this, one of our coaches will come in and support your sessions, or lead the sessions until the teachers are confident and happy enough to take over the reins.
Special Guest Coaches to inspire and engage girls
Lastly, to inspire and engage your pupils in the change, we can offer a one-off visit from one of our “special guest” coaches to really kick things off. This will involve a coaching session followed by a Q and A with either a current or former England player, all of whom are brilliant role models for young females!
Don’t forget – it’s a Women’s Cricket World Cup Year!
In a year when the Women’s Cricket World Cup is being held in the UK make sure you don’t miss out. This is a perfect time to inspire girls to participate in cricket. It is great fun and develops teamwork and leaderships skills as well as keeping girls fit and mentally sharp.
