About Us

Founded in 2017 by Lydia Greenway OBE, Cricket for Girls works with schools and clubs to guide and support the delivery of a high quality girls cricket programme.

We pride ourselves on providing schools and clubs with a service that will ensure they can deliver a sustainable programme by focusing on two main areas:

1. Training the teachers and coaches
2. Inspiring the pupils and players

Firstly, we focus on facilitating teachers and coaches development through our Cricket for Girls Online and face to face courses and our online courses and webinars. All content has been designed and written by our Founder and Head Coach, Lydia Greenway.

Secondly, we deliver taster sessions, masterclasses, school and clubs awards evenings and day camps in schools and clubs to ensure pupils/players continue to have the opportunity to be coached by high quality coaches.

Who is Lydia Greenway?

Lydia Greenway represented England 225 times across all formats of the game during a career spanning over 13 years. She has helped England win two World Cups and four Ashes Series as well as being England’s Player of the Year and shortlisted for ICC World Player of the Year. Lydia has been coaching since she was 17 years old – working from grassroots level to working with some of the best players in the world.

When Lydia was younger, she was lucky enough to have a dad and brother who both played, allowing her the opportunity to get involved herself:

“Looking back, if it wasn’t for my family, I may not have played cricket. My Dad was my role model because I didn’t know there was an England Women’s team and cricket wasn’t really a sport played by girls in school.

Schools and clubs now have a fantastic opportunity to create a high quality and inspiring girls cricket programme. Girls cricket in schools and clubs has a blank canvas and my aim with Cricket for Girls is to ensure there is expertise in girls cricket within every school and club in the country and further afield.”

“We all remember our best teachers and coaches, and as teachers and coaches, we have a huge opportunity to affect peoples’ lives positively. I am a big believer that young girls should have access to genuine female role models when it comes to sport, more specifically cricket…”
